Description of Role:
The Director of Asset Management will be charged with monitoring, optimizing, trouble shooting, and ensuring effective dispatch of Lightshift’s portfolio of energy storage projects in North America. The ideal candidate will possess technical, market, and financial experience with energy storage and asset management and want to be part of a fast-paced, high-growth company in the rapidly expanding energy storage sector. Candidates must possess an innovative and collaborative approach to problem solving and be ready to further build a sophisticated framework for analytics, operations, maintenance, and asset optimization during a formative growth stage at Lightshift. This position reports directly to the founders, will help steer strategic vision for the company as part of the leadership team, and will interact directly with the Analytics, Origination, Development, Engineering, Construction, and Finance teams at Lightshift Energy.
Core responsibilities will include:
Oversee the asset management team, including technical and commercial asset management and project operations;
Negotiate new O&M contracts and supervise and coordinate with project contractors and subcontractors;
Monitor project performance metrics, O&M contractor support, and project safety records;
Maintain project documentation and records to reflect all dealings and transactions in relation to the services performed under such documentation;
Develop and submit facility operations plans and O&M budgets annually, forecast changes, and coordinate any required changes to operations and budget with management;
Manage receipt and storage of all project notices and documents in an electronic document retention system;
Represent projects in dealings with: (a) market operators; (b) governmental authorities; (c) insurance providers; (d) equipment providers; (e) accident investigations and safety corrective actions; (f) independent engineer(s); (g) financiers; (h) landowners and local communities; (i) and other relevant third parties;
Participate in design reviews and supply contract negotiations to provide vital asset management perspective;
Develop and maintain facility operating procedures in collaboration with system operators, AHJ’s, and utilities;
Coordinate with first responders during project development and construction to conduct project familiarization and training;
Coordinate responses to system failures and emergency incidents;
Oversee Lightshift’s safety program, including compliance with federal and local regulations;
Coordinate with analytics and engineering teams on data requirements and data visualization techniques to prepare required incident and operating reports;
Qualifications:
10+ years of asset management experience preferred, ideally with energy storage O&M;
Multiple years of direct field experience, NABCEP certification, and knowledge of Tier 1 energy storage technologies all strongly preferred;
Travel 25% to 50% of the time, ability and willingness to travel on short notice to project sites to provide evaluation of system issues;
Bachelor's degree, preferably with technical background, required;
Preferred Skills:
Excellent communication skills in both oral and written English required;
Self-motivated and strong work ethic with the ability to proactively manage diverse relationships and multiple, complex projects simultaneously;
Potential to be creative, flexible, and think critically in tackling a variety of challenges, from the industry level to customer-specific;
Strong organizational and project management skills required;
Strong experience with Excel, Word and PowerPoint required;
Data science and data visualization skills are a plus.
Location:
Strong preference is for candidate to report to Lightshift’s Arlington, VA headquarters. We will consider remote employment for exceptionally qualified candidates as long as there is significant overlap between the candidate’s residence and Lightshift’s operational portfolio. Proximity to a major airport and ability to drive to project sites will be required for remote candidates.

Base salary commensurate with experience and generous annual cash bonuses;
