Description of Role:

Lightshift Energy seeks a motivated HR manager to join our dynamic team. The HR Manager will oversee and manage the organization’s HR operations, ensuring compliance with regulations and alignment with strategic goals. This role requires expertise in employee relations, recruitment, training, performance management, and policy development. The HR Manager will serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and employees, fostering a positive and productive work environment.

 

Core responsibilities will include:

  • Compensation & Benefits:

    • Oversee bimonthly payroll.

    • Manage employee benefits and annual open enrollment.

  • State Tax Compliance:

    • Monitor and ensure adherence to state tax laws related to employee wages and benefits.

    • Collaborate with external auditors and state agencies during compliance reviews.

    • Keep leadership informed about changes in state tax regulations that may impact HR operations.

  • Recruitment & Onboarding:

    • Manage full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, and selection.

    • Oversee onboarding processes to ensure a seamless integration of new hires.

  • Immigration & Work Authorization Support:

    • Assist international employees with visa and green card processes, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.

    • Serve as a liaison with legal counsel and immigration authorities.

    • Provide guidance to employees and managers on immigration-related policies and procedures.

  • Employee Relations:

    • Act as a point of contact for employee concerns and grievances.

    • Work with management to mediate and resolve workplace conflicts in a fair and timely manner.

  • Policy Development & Compliance:

    • Develop, update, and enforce HR policies, employee handbook, and related procedures.

    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations.

    • Collaborate with finance and payroll teams to ensure compliance with state tax regulations affecting employee payroll and benefits.

  • Performance Management:

    • Implement and manage annual performance reviews.

  • Training & Development:

    • Identify training needs and develop programs to enhance employee skills.

  • Coordinate leadership development initiatives.

    • HR Metrics & Reporting:

  • Prepare quarterly ESG reports for board meetings.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Professional HR certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) is a plus.

  • Strong knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.

  • Proficiency in HRIS systems (Paylocity is a plus) and Microsoft Office Suite.

Location:

  • Washington, DC metropolitan area. Employees are expected to work out of the office in Rosslyn, VA at least three days per week.

 

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Base salary commensurate with experience and generous annual cash bonuses;

  • Full benefits package, including 401k, health/dental/vision insurance, paid vacation, paid sick leave, paid holidays, and short-term disability.
