Michael Herbert
Managing Partner & Co-Founder
Michael has over a decade of energy storage development, investment analysis, policy and market design experience. Michael leads on market analysis and strategy as well as application design and analytics at Lightshift and co-manages corporate strategy for the company.
Prior to Lightshift, he served as the Energy Storage Policy Coordinator at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), overseeing all energy storage policy development, and most notably providing technical leadership for the landmark rulemaking, Order No. 841 which facilitated the participation of energy storage resources in the organized electricity markets.
Michael began his career analyzing investments in electric vehicles, vehicle-to-grid systems, energy storage and renewable energy for the Department of Defense. Michael has degrees from Northwestern University (Bachelor) and Indiana University’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs (Joint Master).
